Manual shifting is the skill ceiling of Drag Bike 201m Sunmori game. Launches get you off the line; shifting decides everything after. This masterclass builds the skill from zero to automatic.

The power band is everything
Every engine makes its best power in a specific rev range: the power band. Below it the bike feels sleepy, above it the power falls off. Your entire job is keeping the engine inside that band through every gear. Each bike's band is different, which is why the bike rankings note shift character per bike.
Shifting by sound
The engine tells you when to shift: the note climbs, then flattens as power drops off. Shift at the flattening, not after. Watching the tachometer costs a tenth per shift because your eyes are slower than your ears and they are busy watching the track. Sound first, eyes on the road.
Common shifting mistakes
Bouncing off the limiter means you shifted late and the engine cut power. Shifting while the note is still climbing means you shifted early and left power unused. Both feel similar in the moment; only the timeslip tells the truth, so time your practice runs.
The automatic shift drill
Twenty full runs in free ride, shifting only by sound, no tach glances. When you can run the whole strip without thinking about shifting, the skill is installed. Then the launch guide and this one combine into complete runs.
